Enter a departure or arrival airport or single waypoint or a set seperated by spaces.

getFix is a very simply tool used to lookup fix, navaid, and airport lat/long information and then convert them for use in the vasFMC add-on for flight simulation software liks FSX, and Xplane.

It cannot be used for aviation data outside the USA. It is also not intended for real world aviation use. I make no guarantees implied or explicit that the data is accurate or that this site will be available at all times.

The process I use is to lookup the route I want to fly in Flightaware. I use the "decode" link on the flightplan section which lists all the waypoints for the flight. I then simply enter those into getfix and let it plot out the rest.

For example, for a flight from Bloomington, IL to Chicago, I'd enter the following:
KBMI PNT TRICH TRTLL HIHRY RINNO KURKK VULCN HIMGO KORD

and getfix would output the following:

KBMI|40.477100|-88.91590|871
PNT|40.821201|-88.73349|0
TRICH|41.20943|-88.80755|0
TRTLL|41.37056|-88.61161|0
HIHRY|41.61515|-88.32029|0
RINNO|41.80543|-88.09338|0
KURKK|42.09184|-88.0272|0
VULCN|42.09176|-87.79417|0
HIMGO|42.09107|-87.50886|0
KORD|41.978599|-87.90480|672

I would then simply cut and paste this into an .fmc text file in vasFMC fps folder and load it up.

My whole intention was to fill the gap where simroutes can't keep up with current charts and waypoints.

Future plans are to put the found fixes into a Google map, provide the ability to download the results, and maybe, export to other formats.

  • NAVAID and Airport data: http://ourairports.com/data/

As of 0.0.2 we added the ability to download both a VasFMC file and a regular FSX flight plan (.pln) file. There maybe some limitations with it as we only have had a limited test before we sent it to production.
